Introduction

The Lawyers’ Office Antonio Vilar and Associates was founded after the establishment of democracy in Portugal in April 1974, developing its activity in a world that, even then, was changing profoundly. That is why it has always been modernizing and internationalizing with the ambition to better monitor their clients, both domestic and foreign, in this already announced new time.

With the accession of Portugal, in 1986, to the EU (then EEC), the Office has expanded its area of operations regarding practiced legal subjects, more lawyers joined, it spread to various countries and went on to be a reference for Portuguese and for many foreign investors. Some of the greatest performed works, since then, in Portugal, had legal consulting by the Law Firm António Vilar and Associates.

The crisis of the 2000s hit the country and, consequently, also the liberal professions and, in that tumultuous moment, it was necessary to rethink the activity previously developed, adapting it to the new needs and challenges

Today, the Office of Lawyers Antonio Vilar and Associates, without having cut with its traditional practice, is decisively towards the new demands of foreign customers, new technologies and markets.

We believe that a lawyer will no longer be just, the defender of a client, in any conflict of interests that in court, one day, will decide. That is why the Office of Lawyers Antonio Vilar and Associates seeks to intelligent creativity in place of a legal practice kind ready-to-wear, as he once did. We know that the legal work requires qualifications increasingly more demanding, rigorous and in depth, as well as the availability for customers, for legal pro-active services, meaning that they anticipate their problems and do not let them extend and become worse. In relation to this, the commitment to analyse and deal with the issues that are entrusted to us in a multidisciplinary perspective is a focal point of our commitment to our clients.

In the legal limits, our collaboration with other professions implies knowledge, by each lawyer, more than the Law knowledge. This is a requirement of the Cabinet, because the lawyer who only knows Law, Not even that one knows.

This is our Destiny…
